Read clothing label to determine if the clothing is compatible with bleach.  This will determine if normal chlorinated bleach or color safe bleach can be applied to your clothes or fabric without damaging them. 

Dry Cleaning Instructions

It is also important to know if your clothing is machine washable or required dry cleaning.  If the clothing directions require that clothing be laundered.  Do not attempt to treat stains on your own or machine wash clothes.  In case of a clothing stain, get clothes to a dry cleaner as soon as possible.

Another important consideration to make when removing stain from colored clothing is the washing temperature of the clothing.  The washing temperature of clothing will change depending on the color and type of clothing material.  Clothing directions should always be used when washing or treating stains.

Remove Excess Stain From Colored Clothes

After staining your colored clothes you should try to remove excess stain that has not already penetrated the fabric.  This will help to prevent the stain from spreading or further setting into the clothing fabric. 

Perform Colorfastness Test

A trial should be conducted on the stained portion of the clothing.  As a general rule if the clothing is a machine is washable a color safe bleach/stain remover can safely be used.    To perform a color safe test apply a drop of color safe bleach/stain remover. Wait approximately 5 minutes to 10.  Then rinse with water and allow items to dry completely.  If there is no discoloration the color safe bleach/stain remover is safe for use.

apply a color safe bleach or stain remover on the stain as soon as possible.  Gently rub the stain and allow the stain remover to penetrate the stain for 3 to 5 minutes.  For tougher stains pre-soak fabric for additional stain treatment.

To pre-soak using a stain remover put the stained clothes in a separate sink or large container.  It is often beneficial to make a stain removing solution by mixing the stain remover with water prior to adding the stained clothes. 

For colored clothes it is often most beneficial to mix color safe bleach with cold water to create a pre-soak solution. 

Add Stain Color Clothes

Add the entire stained garment to the pre-soak solution.  All the stained garment to soak in this pre-soak solution according the stain remover directions.  The stained colored clothing should be fully submerged in the pre-soak solution.

Stained colored clothes should be washed with similar clothing and fabric.  This will prevent clothes from potentially running and allow you to wash clothes with similar fabric and clothing settings together. 

Use The Proper Colored Clothes Washer Settings

Another important factor when removing stains is using the proper clothing and washing temperature settings.  this will help the clothing maintain its color and appearance.  Typically colored clothes use colder temperatures.  To help both remove stain and brighten colors at the same time use a good color booster/stain remover.

Inspect The Clothes After Washing

In order to maintain to determine if the colored clothing stain has adequately been removed inspect clothing following washing.   Clothing that has adequately been treated for a stain can be dried.  If the stain remains pre-soak colored clothing is stain remover and wash again. 

Rewash The Affected Clothes

When rewashing garments of fabrics, follow the color safe bleach/stain remover direction when rewashing the clothing for the best results.
